Roger and Stephanie

Welcome graphic

DEAR EXPECTANT MOTHER,

We are Roger and Stephanie, and thank you so very much for taking a few precious moments to read a little about us. First of all, we would like to say “THANK YOU” for making an incredibly courageous and very loving first step in placing your child with an adoptive family. There are no words that would ever be enough to express how grateful we, and other families like us, are. We know that this is a very trying and challenging time for you, however we strongly believe that God has His hand upon us all and has made our paths cross for a very special reason. We admire you for having the vision to make a positive life plan for your child, and we are so honored to be a part of it. Your child will “ALWAYS’ know that your decision was guided by an unquestionable love that only a mother has for her child.

OUR STORY

We are a very loving and compassionate Christian couple (Roger 42, Stephanie 36) that has devoted many years in trying to have a family. We met in May of 1997 in Northern Virginia and were united in marriage in February of 2000 in North Texas. We actually met on a blind date and have known from day one that we were each other’s best friends and soul mates! Our road to parenthood has not been an easy one. Infertility has been an emotional experience to go though for the past six years. We have suffered many losses as a result of Stephanie’s history of multiple miscarriage and now early menopause. However, we know that God is ultimately in control and has a wonderful plan to make us mommy and daddy very soon! We have never lost sight of the fact that we are so richly blessed and have so much to be thankful for. Adoption is not a new topic for us, as we would like to adopt an older sibling group after we have had some experience at being parents. We love to travel, enjoy the arts, reading, working out in the gym, spending time with our family and friends, the outdoors, museums, playing our X-BOX, and taking our precious Basset Hound “Sweet Pea” to the dog park! We live in a quaint older home that has lots of character, a spacious fenced-in back yard just waiting for that brand new swing set! And of course lots of room for our children to run and play and grow. Our neighborhood is very kid-friendly, and they are so excited and can’t wait for us to finally bring home our little bundle of joy. Our “furry/wet children” are Sweet Pea the Basset Hound; Nathaen, Gabbee, Trinity, Hope, and Grace the cats; Slimmer, the algae eater; and Tiara, Creamsicle, and Bentley the goldfish. Sweet Pea and our cats have all been rescued from either going to the shelter or right from the roadside. Our animal’s love children, get along with them wonderfully, and they can’t wait to become a big brother or sister!

Stephanie is an only child. She was born in Washington, DC and raised in a small town in Northern Virginia. However, she is from a very large extended family, of which several of her cousins are also adopted. Stephanie started dancing ballet at the tender age of two and turned professional in 1984. She still has a passion and great love for ballet and continues to take classes on a regular basis. She also started learning to play the violin at the age of five because her grandfather always wanted her to learn to play. Stephanie is very artistic and creative, but is also a “gadget girl”. Her husband is always telling her to stop playing with her cell phone! She loves school and did very well, and was a cheerleader in high school. Stephanie has had about two years of college, though someday she would like to go back and still has aspirations of becoming an ER doctor. Stephanie is very close to her parents who have been married for over 43 years and to all of her family as well. She attends the “big” family reunion every July, and visits her parents and grandmother many times throughout the year. Even though Stephanie was not raised “in church”, she now has a very strong faith in God that has helped her get through the more difficult times in life. Stephanie and her parents were all water baptized together as a family on Father’s Day three years ago.

This was one Stephanie’s very special life moments in being able to share this priceless joy with her parents. Of course her marriage to Roger tops the list! She is a huge fan of Joyce Meyer Ministries and has been volunteering at the United States-based conferences since 2003. Stephanie enjoys going to water aerobic and ballet classes, watching Star Trek Voyager episodes, baking and cooking, chatting with her mom Lola on the phone, and taking ‘Sweet Pea” for walks around the neighborhood each day.

Roger is one of eight children, five sisters and three brothers that was born and raised in Central Minnesota. He also has a very large extended family of which have family reunions each summer and around the holiday’s. Roger is close with his brothers, sisters, and his parents who have been married for almost 52 years now. Most of his family and extended family still live in Minnesota and he visits them once or twice a year. Each year the siblings and their families get together for the annual camping week at the lake and a fun game of golf for goofy prizes. Roger had a paper route for about five years when he was younger that taught him responsibility, and how to deliver papers in twenty below temperatures in the cold Minnesota winters! He also played Basketball, Football and ran Track in high school. Roger proudly served eight years in the United States Air Force and served tours in Crete and Germany. His entire family is German, and continues to carry on a lot of the German traditions. His German is not as fluent as it once was, but he still speaks enough to give his wife a hard time every now and then! Roger was raised in a very devout Catholic home. Even though Roger and his wife now attend a wonderful non-denominational church, his Catholic heritage and relationship with God are still a very important part of his everyday life. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1993, he is now a Certified Public Accountant (CPA/Payroll Manager for a local concrete company and has been there for over five years. Roger loves watching sports and movies, enjoys going to sporting events and music concerts, collecting coins, reading, and chasing Sweet Pea around the house.

STEPHANIE AS A WIFE AND MOMMY-TO-BE

Stephanie loves taking care of our home and being a stay-at-home wife. She is also looking forward to the day that our home will be filled with the cry’s of a precious little blessing to take care of as well. She is very positive, sensitive, patient, caring, and always giving to others before herself. I admire her with all my heart and she is truly a blessing in my life. I truly can’t imagine my life without her. I long for the day that I come home and see her rocking our child to sleep looking peacefully into their eyes, comforting them when they are sick, or just giving them one of her very special “mommy bear hugs”! Stephanie is very creative and has always had that “special way” with children. She has an exceptional gift of being able to understand and relate to them on their level. She loves to play games and looks forward to the day that she can teach them how to play. Family values are so important to her, and I know she will do her very best to instill them in our children...Roger

ROGER AS A HUSBAND AND DADDY-TO-BE

Roger is a very supportive husband and has been my rock throughout our trials of infertility. Every marriage always has a bump or two in the road, however we have been blessed beyond measure with a wonderful marriage that only becomes stronger with each passing day. I could not have asked for a better man to spend the rest of my life with! I was in a physically abusive relationship before I met Roger, so I know with all of my heart and soul what a “treasure” I have in my husband. He is very down-to-earth and a true child at heart. He loves to laugh and make others laugh, and is always goofing around and teasing me! He’s a “child-magnet” and we can’t go anywhere without him making faces and playing with the children! I can just see him rolling around on the floor playing and chasing our children and Sweet Pea around the house….Stephanie

We want you to know that your child will be loved in a very special way that only a parent can. And we will be very open in sharing with them how God and you chose us to make them a very special part of our lives. We know that becoming parents will be the most rewarding and yet, challenging experience we will face. We will always try to be an outstanding parent and role model and instill in them godly morals and values to teach them how to become a loving, respectable, compassionate adult. We feel that every child deserves the very best opportunities in life, and our parents showed us the importance of education and the willingness to step out and discover new interests and talents hidden within us.

We want you to know that we will respect your wishes in regards to the degree of openness that feels right to you. And we want you to feel free to share with us your hopes and dreams and desires that you have for your child. We know your child will always have a very special place in your heart, and they will be welcomed into our family’s hearts and home with open and waiting arms. Even though you may not be able to be a part of your child’s everyday life, you are still the reason that God chose “you” to give this precious child…life.

We just want to say thank you again for considering us for your precious little blessing. And we hope that you have been able to get to know us a little better from looking at and reading our album. Sometimes it’s hard to put your thoughts and hearts desires down on paper, however please know with all of our heart and soul that we will do everything in our power to raise a child that you “and” us can be proud of.

After devoting years to trying to start our family on our own, we now know that God wants to give us a “little blessing” with the help of a very “special” guardian angel. We are so excited about adopting, and can’t wait to hear the pitter patter’s of little feet filling our home with God’s abundant love. It’s truly our dream to become
a mommy and a daddy.

We wish you strength and peace during this difficult time, and you are in our thoughts and prayers….

God bless you,
Roger and Stephanie
